Common Name
Type Locality Pará State, Altamira Municipality; Rio Amazonas drainage, Rio Xingú basin, Rio Iriri sub-basin, Rio Curuá,, cofferdam formed during the building of the Buriti Hydroelectric Dam (PCH), 8°46'09"S, 54°57'02"W, Brazil.
Etymology Greek, itys, ityos = circle + Greek, glanis = a fish that can eat the bait without touching the hook; a cat fish.
