Type Locality Rio Iratapuru, left tributary of the rio Jari, Laranjal do Jari municipality, Amapá, Brazil.
Etymology Greek, itys, ityos = circle + Greek, glanis = a fish that can eat the bait without touching the hook; a cat fish.
