Type Locality Rio Trairão, Fresco-Xingú basin, tributary of Rio de Ponte, 15 kilometers south of Cumaru do Norte, 7°56'34"S, 50°47'48"W, Cumaru do Norte, Pará, Brazil.
Etymology Leptodoras: From the Greek leptos, meaning slender, and doras, meaning skin (also a word commonly used in forming generic names for doradids); in reference to the shape. Named after Mark Sabaj Perez
