Type Locality	Mouth of the Patelung River, inner portion of Talé Sap, Thailand.
Synonym(s)	Mastacembelus circumcinctus
Etymology	Macrognathus: Greek, makros = great + Greek, gnathos = jaw.
Species Information
Size	200mm or 7.9" SL. Find near, nearer or same sized spp.
Identification	Differs from all other mastacembelids found in Myanmar and Thailand in having body with a series of very regular, oblique, dark bars, each with a narrow extension extending partially or entirely across abdomen, and having ripe females with a very elongate genital papillae.
Habitat Information
Distribution	Asia: Mekong and Chao Phraya basins, southeastern Thailand, Malay Peninsula and Sumatra, Indonesia.

Husbandry Information
Feeding	Feeds on insect larvae and other small aquatic creatures. Can be difficult to wean off live or frozen food. Home made "shrimp-mix" is often accepted. User data.
