Identification	This is the species commonly found in the trade.
General Remarks	Weather loaches react to changes in barometric pressure and become active when the weather is changeable.
Habitat Information
Distribution	Asia: Myanmar and Northeastern Asia and southward to Central China. This species proved successful in the aquarium fish trade and has also been introduced to other countries. At least one country reports adverse ecological impact after introduction.

Husbandry Information
Feeding	Accepts a wider range of foods eaten from the bottom. User data.
Furniture	Ensure the aquarium has a tight fitting lid and do not provide too much light.
Compatibility	A lively fish that will do well with similar cold water fishes. Can be kept with goldfish, but avoid the slow moving fancy types which will not fare as well with the active loach.
Suggested Tankmates	Cold water cyprinids are ideal, safe with smaller fishes.
