General Remarks A fish that isn't as common in the trade as it ought to be. It's a very nice little fish. It may not have the most amazing colours, especially not in the shop. Give it the right conditions, and it will colour up nicely, however.

Distribution Asia: Sumatra, Indonesia. Has been transported worldwide and recorded from natural waters in Colombia.

Other Parameters Prefer a blackwater habitat, required for spawning, but otherwise tolerant to most water conditions.

Feeding In nature it feeds on worms, small crustaceans, insects and plant matter. In the aquarium it will eat prepared food, but likes frozen and live food. User data.
Furniture In nature it lives in in creeks, rivers and lakes. In an aquarium, some plants to provide shade and cover to hide in is recommended.
Compatibility Peaceful and will be fine with any fish that doesn't fit in its small mount. Best kept in a group of 10 or more. .
Suggested Tankmates Other species that don't see it as a snack will be fine. May take tiny fish, but its mouth is small, so only fish the size of newborn guppies and such are really at risk. .
Breeding Easy to breed in the right conditions. Given a bit of leaf litter and no predators, it's entirely possible to find new fish every now and again.
