| Etymology | The name Pangasius comes from a local (Bengali) name of the fish (pungas). Named after the Mahakam basin where the type material was collected. |

| Size | 182mm or 7.2" SL. Find near, nearer or same sized spp. |
| Identification | On live specimens, head and body dorsally olive to greenish grey, lower side of flanks and belly silver or whitish. Dorsal, pectoral and caudal fins yellowish, other fins hyaline. |
| General Remarks | The largest specimen listed in the description is 182 mm SL. In the Roberts and Vidthayanon 1991 revision of Pangasiidae there is a noted specimen that somewhat exceeds this - 192 mm. |
