Common Name Shalyni Barb
Type Locality Barapani Lake, about 20 kilometers north of Shillong, Khasi Hills, Meghalaya, India, elevation 1100 meters.
Synonym(s) Puntius shalynius
Etymology Pethia is the generic vernacular name for small cyprinids in Sinhala.
