Type Locality	Rivers of Brazil.

Etymology	(Latin)Pinna=Fin + (perhaps Old German)rampf=hook.
Species Information
Size	1200mm or 47.2" SL. Find near, nearer or same sized spp.
Identification	Individuals collected in the Parana and further south can be identified as Megalonema argentinum - originally named Perugia argentina - but this appears to be P. pinirampu.
