Scientific Name	**Pseudancistrus kwinti** Willink, Mol & Chernoff, 2010
Common Name
Type Locality	Coppername River at base of Sidonkroetoe-val rapiids, Central Suriname Nature Reserve, 4°31'51''N, 56°30'56''W, Sipaliwini State, Suriname.
Etymology	Greek, pseudes = false + Greek, agkistron = hook or barb. "False Ancistrus", meaning that it is like an Ancistrus, but yet not quite. Named after the Kwinti people that live along the Copename River and traditionally fish in the area where this fish was found.
Species Information
Size	96mm or 3.8" SL. Find near, nearer or same sized spp.
Identification	Pseudancistrus is the only genus of the Ancistrini (former Ancistrinae) that lacks evertible cheek plates. Because of this characteristic, it has at times been placed in the Hypostominae. Pattern looks similar to some Peckoltia species. The shape of the mouth/teeth and eye-size should help identify the species. It is unlikely that this species enters the trade, based on it's restricted location, which is not commercially fished for the aquatic trade.
Sexing	General for the genus is that the snout odontodes are longer in males.
