Scientific Name Pseudobagarius similis  (Ng & Kottelat, 1998)
Common Name
Type Locality Knh Thuy Cai canal, 10 kilometers east of Vinh Long, at mouth of canal into Mekong River, Vietnam.
Synonym(s) Akysis similis
Pronunciation sim ill iss
Etymology The specific epithet is from the Latin similis, meaning alike, in reference to the similarity of this species to Pseudobagarius pseudobagarius.

Size 38mm or 1.5" SL. Find near, nearer or same sized spp.
Identification Catfish of the genus Pseudobagarius are akysids with the snout extending well in front of the tip of lower jaw (which renders the mouth subterminal). The front and back nostrils are relatively large and closely set (separated only by the base of the nasal barbel). The caudal fin is deeply forked.

Easily distinguished by its strongly overhanging snout and indistinct, mottled coloration.
Sexing Males have a longer genital papilla.
