Scientific Name Pseudotropheus crabro  (Ribbink & Lewis, 1982)
Common Name Hornissenmaulbrüter (Germany)
Type Locality Maleri Island, 13°53'S, 34°37'E, Lake Malawi [Lake Nyasa], southeastern Africa, depth 15-18 meters.
Etymology Pseudotropheus: Greek, pseudes = false + Greek, tropaion = defeat, a memorial of a fighting war, trophy; because of their specialized teeth were such an obvious feeding adaptation.

Distribution Africa: Endemic to Lake Malawi. Occurs in Eccles Reef, West Reef, Chinyankwazi, Chiyamwezi, Maleri, Mbenji, Likoma and Chisumulu Islands, Nkata Bay.
