Etymology Greek, rhinos = nose + Latin, lorica, loricare = cuirass of corslet of leather.

General Remarks The type locality was originally noted as, "Aus Brasilien durch Natterer, ober ohne nähere Angabe des Fundortes." This means the species came from Brazil (around 1853) but further details were not forthcoming.
