Type Locality Canal west of BR-471, Estaçao Ecológia, Banhado do Taim, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
Pronunciation rhine lor ee kar ee ah.
Etymology Greek, rhinos = nose + Latin, lorica, loricare = cuirass of corslet of leather. Specific epithet in reference to the great length of the caudal peduncle.
