Type Locality	União da Victória, rio Iguaçu, 21°10'16''S, 51°10'31''W, Paraná, Brazil.
Pronunciation	rhine lor ee kar ee ah.
Etymology	Greek, rhinos = nose + Latin, lorica, loricare = cuirass of corslet of leather. The specific name maacki is given in honor of Reinhard Maack, a geologist who made some of the most important contributions to the knowledge of the geology and physiography of the rio Iguacu basin and Parana State, Brazil.
