Type Locality Río Chagres, Panama.
Synonym(s) Fonchiichthys uracantha, Loricaria bransfordi, Loricaria uracantha
Pronunciation rhine lor ee kar ee ah.
Etymology Greek, rhinos = nose + Latin, lorica, loricare = cuirass of corslet of leather.
