Common Name
Type Locality Stream tributary to Rio Capivari, a tributary of Rio Quebra Anzol, Rio Araguari subdrainage, Rio Paranaíba drainage, Paraná basin, Araxá municipality, Minas Gerais State, Brazil, 19°40'26"S, 47°02'24"W, elevation 970 meters.
Etymology Scleronema: Greek, skleros = hard + Greek, nema = filament (or thread) referring to the hard base of the maxillary barbel. Auromaculatum is latin for with golden spots, referring to the colour pattern of the new species.
