Scientific Name Sperata lamarrii  (Valenciennes, 1840)

Type Locality Ganges River, India.
Pronunciation ss per AT ah
Etymology The genus is named after MA Sperat. This species was named for M[onsieur] Lamarre-Piquot who provided the, nearly 2-foot-long, specimen used in the description.

Identification Similar to S. aor but with eyes more directed upwards, and placed so that their posterior edge is in the first third of the length of the head. The head and the area around the dorsal fine spine base are highly granulated (in adults).
