Scientific Name Toxotes chatareus  (Hamilton, 1822)
Common Name Siebenpunkt-Schützenfisch (Germany)
Type Locality Ganges River estuaries, India.
Etymology Toxotes is Greek for "bowman" or "archer", referring to the "spitting a beam of water" to mae insects fall onto the water.

Feeding The common name for this group, Archerfish, is a reference to the habit of this fish to shoot water at insects on low branches over the water. They are technically omnivores, but prefer insects and are not keen on floating flake food. User data.
Furniture These fish need space above the water level, and are known to not only shoot insects above water, but also to jump out of water to chase food.
