Etymology | Dicrossus: Greek, di = two + Greek, krossoi = tassel The specific name gladicauda is derived from the Latin gladius, meaning sword, and cauda, meaning tail, alluding to the sword-like streamer of the dorsal lobe of the caudal fin in adult males. |
